The Latest ...

Hello 2012...goodbye 2011.
So far 2012 is shaping better than I could have dreamed. I wrote the score for Erin Greenwell's new feature "My Best Day". It premiered at the Sundance Festival this month and got great reviews. I was priviledged to be invited to perform some of the score live with fellow Sundance Composer Lab Alums at the Evening Music Series at the ASCAP Music Cafe...on my birthday no less. What a thrill. I am aiming to focus a lot of energy on my film scoring this year and will be adding a new page to this site with clips from past scores. I am very excited about this and in general, I feel real good about 2012. Bring it on!

Electric Junkyard Gamelan had another busy year of touring in 2011 with great shows at the Kennedy Center, Brooklyn Botanic Garden Chili Pepper Fiesta, Detroit Institute of Art and many more. We crossed a new hurdle and got the project packed up and into the air for some touring on the west coast in September. A highlight was our performace at the 13th Music for People and Thingamajigs Festival in the Bay Area. We ended the year with another first, a tour in Spain. We had amazing shows including the International Recycling Art s Festival in Barcelona and in the countryside at the Priorat Centre D'Art. So many new friends were made along the way. Thanks to everyone who contributed to our Kickstarter Campaign and helped us get to Spain. We are in town for the winter and taking a bit of a break from touring. I'm working on new music, experimenting with new instruments and plotting and scheming for the future.

2011 saw the beginning of a new relationship between EJG and Alisong Management. At the the helm is the awesome Alison Mazer. They will handling our booking this year. I am so grateful for this opportunity as it will allow me to return to more creative pursuits. Please check the calendar on the EJG page for future tour dates and sign up for email updates.

2011 also saw the resurrection of my ensemble Monkey on a Rail. The group plays my compositions for horns, bass and drums. We did our first show in too many years at Barbes. It was a great night with an all-star cast of players and we got a fabulous review from LucidCulture. Check it out here

In September I debuted some of my new musical object sculptures at the Take Me to the River Music and Art Festival to an enthusiastic audience. I'll be posting some clips of the "Spokarp" in action soon.
